The NVQ Level 3 Site Carpenter course is aimed at candidates who have advanced knowledge and expertise in carpentry and can demonstrate competence in woodwork in the workplace.
By choosing this course, candidates will learn about erecting structures such as roofs and building carcasses plus how to maintain non-structural and structural components on site.
Applicants MUST be at least 16 years old and have a good understanding of the English language. The course is designed so the learner can gain the qualification while at work and enhance their career prospects.
Objectives
At the end of the NVQ Level 3 Site Carpenter course, candidates will be able to demonstrate skills worthy of a advanced site carpenter.
Agenda
The NVQ Level 3 Site Carpenter course will cover the following topics:
- Health and safety in the workplace
- Developing relationships on site and an understanding of resources and methods used to complete a job
- Installing bespoke first fixings including wall studding, roof struts and door frames
- Installing bespoke second fixings, including architrave, floor board and skirting
- Setting up and using machinery competent and safely
Students will also be required to gain credits from 2 of the below units which include:
- Constructing frames
- Maintaining non-structural or structural elements of a building
- Installing a roof
Assessment
In order to successfully complete this Level 3 construction NVQ course; an NVQ assessor will observe the learner through a range of methods:
- observations to see skills in practice
- professional discussions
- written questions
- a portfolio of evidence
To apply for the CSCS Gold Advanced Craft Card candidates must have an up to date CITB Health and Safety Touch Screen Test
