The CPCS Ride on Road Roller A31 qualification is designed for individuals with limited or no experience who want to learn to operate a roller. On passing the technical tests, the CPCS trained operator card (red card) is applied for on the candidate’s behalf.
Course content A31
- All pre-start, running checks and shut down procedures
- Set roller for travel
- Awareness of on-site hazards
- Set the roller for compaction duties
- Place roller in an out of service condition
- Recognise compacted/uncompacted areas
- Conditions that may cause instability of the roller
- Safety procedures when working up to unsupported edges
- Loading and unloading procedures on/off a transporter.
The entry requirements for the CPCS Ride on Road Roller A31 course are as follows:
- Candidates must have passed the CITB Health, safety and environment test within the previous 23 months before the course start date.
- Candidates should have a good understanding of spoken and written English to effectively participate in the training.
Duration:
The CPCS Ride on Road Roller A31 course has a duration of 4 days.
This includes 3 days of learning through a mix of classroom-based teaching and practical exercises, followed by 1 day of assessment which involves CPCS technical tests.
