The CPCS Excavator 360 Tracked: Above 10 Tonnes A59 qualification is designed for individuals with limited or no experience who want to learn to operate a excavator. On passing the technical tests, the CPCS trained operator card (red card) is applied for on the candidate’s behalf.
Course content A59
- Operate the excavator 360° tracked safely and productively
- Fit and operate ancillary equipment
- Site the machine safely and efficiently
- Carry out minor adjustments and routine servicing procedures
- Understand the capabilities, purposes and limitations of each machine
- Follow all necessary safety precautions
- Interpret the information provided by level pegs and profiles
- Be aware of the necessary routine adjustments and service procedures, and carry them out
- Work to levels with the aid of laser equipment.
The entry requirements for the CPCS Excavator 360 Tracked: Above 10 Tonnes A59 course are as follows:
- Candidates must have passed the CITB Health, safety and environment test within the previous 23 months before the course start date.
- Candidates should have a good understanding of spoken and written English to effectively participate in the training.

The CPCS Excavator 360 Tracked: Above 10 Tonnes A59 has a duration of 9 days.
This includes 8 days of learning through a mix of classroom-based teaching and practical exercises, followed by 1 day of assessment which involves CPCS technical tests.
