The Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) is an in-depth, comprehensive course designed for individuals who require a thorough understanding of first aid in the workplace. This course is suitable for designated first aiders, as well as those working in high-risk environments or with specific health and safety responsibilities.
Over the course of three days, participants will gain the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to manage a wide range of first aid situations effectively. The course covers the following key topics:
- Roles and responsibilities of a first aider
- Assessing an incident and prioritizing actions
- Providing initial assistance and performing a primary survey
- Administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and using an automated external defibrillator (AED)
- Recognizing and treating unconscious casualties, including recovery position
- Managing choking, wounds, bleeding, and shock
- Identifying and treating injuries to bones, muscles, and joints
- Dealing with burns and scalds, electric shock, and eye injuries
- Recognizing and managing medical conditions such as heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, seizures, and allergic reactions
The course is delivered by experienced, qualified trainers who use a combination of classroom-based learning, interactive discussions, and practical exercises to ensure participants develop a deep understanding of the subject matter. Participants will have ample opportunity to practice their skills in simulated scenarios, receiving constructive feedback to refine their techniques.
Upon successful completion of the course and assessment, participants will be awarded the Level 3 Award in First Aid at Workat Work (RQF) certificate. This certification is valid for three years, after which participants can attend a two-day refresher course to maintain their qualification.
